Abstract
Introduction: Given the context of covid-19 pandemic, with increasing spread of the virus, difficulty in sustainable access to oxygen by municipalities in state of Rio Grande do Norte (RN) and possible need for mass removal of hospitalized patients in critical condition or dependent on oxygen therapy, the Rapid Response Group for Emergency Actions of State Department of Public Health of RN elaborated and implemented the Action Protocol for Incidents with Multiple Victims with a Clinical Profile (IMV-C) and Mass Removal. Objective: To report the experience of Crisis Management, lived in the most critical period of the covid-19 pandemic. Method: This is a descriptive study, in the format of an experience report. Results: The implementation of the protocol and actions of the Rapid Response Group for Emergency Actions, in adverse and extreme conditions, since it was essential to implement immediate measures to organize the intervention process and save lives was considered a success. A a state hospital reference service was structured in each health region with adequate spaces to guarantee oxygen therapy. Professional skills and abilities were improved for IMV-C. Conclusion: The experience in the current scenario of the covid-19 pandemic highlights the need for greater organization, planning, and restructuring in municipal services. It was possibleto identify in several health services the problem(s) causing the event, enabling greater effectiveness and efficiency in the search for effective solutions to the problem. A good integration of the urgency and emergency network was observed in the activation of the Protocol.
