Abstract

Introduction: The care developed by primary health care nurses from a holistic perspective enables a path of promotion, prevention and well-being. Objective: This study aims to identify in the scientific literature the holistic practices used by nurses in primary health care. Method: This is a scope review that followed the guidelines of the Joanna Briggs Institute. An initial search was performed with the descriptor Holistic Nursing in two online databases: Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (Medline) and Web of Science, in order to map possible descriptors. In order to search for materials, a second review was carried out in Medline, Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS), Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), Cumulative Index to Nursing & Allied Health (CINAHL), Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, SciVerse Scopus, Web of Science and the Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations. Results: A total of 1,910 works were imported into the Rayyan program, of which 28 were included, in which descriptive studies, in English and published in the last 10 years, prevailed. 21 holistic practices that can be used by nurses in PHC were identified, the most cited being reiki, mindfulness, spirituality and holistic care for wounds. Conclusion: There was a wide applicability and handling for the nurses' work process in the use of these practices. Finally, it is expected that this work will raise awareness and subsidize nursing care in the scenarios of practices that compete with primary care.
