Abstract
Objective: describe Health Education actions based on knowledge of the Municipal Health Plan and the actions of the Family Health Strategy teams, focusing on the National Policy for Comprehensive Attention to Women's Health. His is a descriptive study of a qualitative nature, carried out in the municipality of São Miguel, in the interior of the State of Rio Grande do Norte. Method: The population was made up of professionals from the five Family Health Strategy teams that make up the Basic Health Units in the urban area. Results: Health Education focuses on activities related to consultations and prenatal care, preventive exams, family planning, breast and cervical cancer screening, guidance on controlling diabetes and high blood pressure. It is noted that no attention is given to issues of professional qualification, considered important for the development of efficient work in relation to Health Education activities for women, in which the educational process has the power to influence the dissemination, quality of life and disease prevention. Conclusion: It is concluded that changes require commitment to review priorities, planning, organization and construction of globalizing strategies to promote female health at all stages of life. The attitudes described do not characterize the whole, but rather a portrait of a small territory and a portion of women, with the data collected being an expression of the local reality.
