Proceedings of the 20th State Nursing Congress of Rio Grande do Norte (CEEn-RN)

The 20th State Nursing Congress of Rio Grande do Norte (CEEn-RN), organized by the Brazilian Nursing Association (ABEn) – Rio Grande do Norte Section, took place on May 7 and 8, 2026, in the city of Mossoró. The event was hosted at the Nursing Faculty of the State University of Rio Grande do Norte (FAEN/UERN) and the Amâncio Ramalho Auditorium at the Federal Rural University of the Semi-Arid Region (UFERSA).
Marking its twentieth edition, the congress was part of the celebrations for ABEn’s centenary. Its central theme, "ABEn 100 Years: Struggles, Advances, and Perspectives," reaffirmed the organization's historic role in championing Brazilian nursing, professional education, scientific research, and the strengthening of the Unified Health System (SUS). The event served as a vital forum for critical reflection, the exchange of experiences, the dissemination of scientific knowledge, and the political strengthening of the nursing profession.
The program brought together students, faculty, researchers, administrators, and nursing professionals from across the state, featuring lectures, roundtables, workshops, scientific paper presentations, and cultural activities. The congress also fostered discussions on contemporary professional challenges, nursing's social commitment, and future prospects for the field amidst ongoing social, health, and educational transformations.
Held in the historic city of Mossoró—renowned for its tradition of resistance and social activism—the 20th CEEn-RN established itself as a milestone for nursing in Rio Grande do Norte. It strengthened ties between education, research, management, clinical practice, and professional associations, while celebrating ABEn’s contribution to building a nursing profession that is critical, ethical, and scientifically grounded, and deeply committed to defending life and public health.
